Sarah Rickard

Having gained a B.A.(Hons) degree in ceramics and textiles Sarah has worked as a self employed artist ever since.  Her decorative ceramics are inspired by a deep love of nature, myth and folklore.  Through her work she hopes to convey a sense that the natural world is something to be revered and protected and that it is still full of magic and wonder.

She creates her hand built ceramics from her garden studio in rural East Sussex, gaining inspiration from the surrounding countryside.  Working mainly in earthenware and porcelain she puts a strong emphasis on the decoration due to her background in fine art and illustration.  She uses slips, oxides, transfers and sgraffito technique to achieve her desired results.
