Lauren Hayes
Lauren Hayes is a Brighton-based artist who creates intricate paper art designs, transforming simple sheets into layered, sculptural works that play with light and form. Alongside her personal practice, Lauren has worked as a workshop facilitator, bringing people together to create large-scale, immersive paper installations themed around nature and the environment.
One of her most notable collaborations has been with arts charity SCIP. In 2025, Lauren worked on The Garden Show project at The Crypt Gallery in Seaford, where she worked with local young people to design and build an extraordinary paper rainforest installation as part of a broader celebration of floral biodiversity. Over several months, participants created tropical flora and fauna that transformed the gallery space into a vibrant, interactive ecosystem, bringing imaginative and ecological themes to life in paper form.
Previously, Lauren also collaborated with SCIP Youth on a project titled Down in the Deep, funded by the Rampion Community Benefit Fund. For this initiative, she worked with members of the Sussex community to create an immersive paper installation exploring the rich marine life of Seaford Bay and Sussex waters. The work featured handcrafted paper sea creatures and underwater ecosystems, offering visitors a tactile and visually engaging way to learn about marine biodiversity, the threats posed by plastics and climate change, and the importance of local conservation efforts.
